I was sent this bottle by Gold Bar in exchange for a review of the product… not a business I want to get into by the way… I just happen to know the person who sent it via Instagram, so I’m good tasting something new and talking about it.

The initial look at the product is solid. The bottle features their signature “Lady of Fortune” coin and a nice burnt umber color to the bourbon. On the nose you get scorched caramel, cake and apples.

The taste is sweet upfront, yielding to a dark chocolate mocha coffee taste at the back. There is a bit of spiced black pepper in it that causes some sparks on your tongue and the top of your palate. The finishing process with the French Oak staves is apparent as the oak hits the sides of your mouth like an oak-flavored shock tart.

In the end, it yields a nice and warm embrace and the proof of 103 seemingly fits it well.

It’s a smooth sipper and at the price point you can’t go wrong with this one. Since this was a morning review, I had my cup of coffee on my warmer on my desk so I decided to pour a bit in my mug… just to see what it would taste like (you know, for the sake of science). The dark chocolate mocha coffee taste I got from the neat tasting worked perfectly in that java.

I would officially call this one a neat drinker, but if you are having “one of those mornings” a splash of Rickhouse in your cup might be something worth trying.

Thumbs up on this one!
